The Scheming Gambler's Paradise (1905) Georges Méliès
In this early silent film an an illegal gambling establishment is alive with patrons until the police approach to raid the place. rattling quickly the place is changed into a shop with the ladies becoming shop workers and the gambling table a long counter. The police leave of absence but return again this time a man is spotted but the police bear him no ill will. The scene ends with the police gambling at the table. This film was released originally in 1905 under the french name, “Le tripot clandestin,” and was directed by Georges Méliès.
