Our second encounter with Kiki Cavazos was an emotional one. There’s simply no other voice like hers, nothing else as authentic as her sound or the intimate honesty of her writing. To us, she’s the Godmother of state music.

We expect some push back from folks in crowning such a title. And I guess that’s the point, Kiki is the GOAT.

Few people in this world have such a distinct ability to make believers of us. Kiki Cavazos does it with tight, drawn sinews, words through the heart and into bone.

We have sought the best songwriters we can find, and it is an honor to share with the world, this song of hers.
